Here are five TED Talks for New year that are insightful and inspirational enough to help you kickstart your new year and make it a successful one.

If you didn’t know, TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. They organize independently run TEDx events to help share ideas in communities around the world.

It’s been more than 5 years that I’ve been hooked to TED for new ideas and inspiration.

I absolutely love the platform and would definitely recommend you check it out if you haven’t already. They feature talks by people whose ‘ideas are worth spreading’ with the world, in almost every important topic.

If you’ve ever lived through a year of failed new year resolutions, then you definitely know how important of a topic it is. These five ted talks for new year will give you important insights into how you can change the way you approach a new year, or how you can set up your new resolutions for success.

My Year of Saying Yes to Everything | Shonda Rhimes

If you haven’t heard of Shonda Rhimes before, you’ve definitely seen some of her works. She’s the creator, head writer, and executive producer of the popular drama series Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away With Murder. With her work amassing more than 70 hours of television per season, there’s no doubt that Shonda loves her work. 

In this powerful and enthralling talk, Shonda speaks about the feeling that she enters at work and refers to it as her ‘hum.’ She shares her journey of when this hum stopped at work and how she rediscovered the hum of life through her “year of yes.”

The End of New Year’s Resolutions | Austin Yoder

You should begin the list with this ted talk by Austin Yoder. In his talk, Austin recalls the experiences and lessons he learned when he went to enjoy solitude for four days in a woodsy cabin to set up goals for the new year.

During his time in the cabin, he had an epiphany regarding new year resolutions. He realized that the way people set up their new year resolutions was broken and inefficient. Turns out that almost ⅓ people give up on their new year resolutions before February and ⅘ abandon their new year resolutions before the end of the full year.

He then goes on to discuss the usual problems with the traditional new year resolutions and shares a new and much effective model of new year resolutions. This new model can be extremely helpful if you are planning to set up new year resolutions as well.
